This is an American Heart Association BLS Course that provides the foundation for saving lives from cardiac arrest. It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics. In this Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students must participate and pass a written exam and skills portion of the course to obtain a certification. Upon successful completion of the course, including a BLS skills test and a written exam, students receive a BLS Provider completion card from the American Heart Association, valid for two years. Students may purchase their own course book at the AHA eBook store or use a borrowed course book during the scheduled course, at no cost, with the exception of returning at the completion of the class that day.
